@bjorn I think I've accidentally voted twice 😂
@Thomas2709 I will refrain from voting then since it looks like we are voting the same 😆
What should be the name of the tag for Bonfire tips

@bjorn @matherion Looks like there are some nice fellow travellers springing up in terms of bonfire pilots...

@PeterReniers @bjorn but s'mores sounds so cool!
@Thomas2709 @PeterReniers sounds like a good excuse to try out the poll feature!
Recently finished reading More Work for Mother, a classic text from history of technology. It's arguably one of the most influential works on the history of women and technology, and makes the argument that "labour-saving" appliances have tended to save the labour of men and children, while leaving the workload of women the same, or increasing it.
As is my habit, I wrote a thing about it: not-so-obvious.net/bookpile-...
While I'm probably not going to trouble bonfire with every blog post I write, this one feels good for the venue 😁
@bjorn I would prefer to keep it simple and evident. If it is called Smores I would not understand that the tag contains tips 😊

Creating a new tag, #Smores, where can share bite-sized tips and tricks about Bonfire 🔥
(Or should it just be called #BonfireTips?)

@RicBra @alexbrandsen @matherion for now we would like to limit the resource usage, since we don't yet have any long-term funding, and video is a high resource usage - sorry Ricarda!
@bjorn @RicBra @alexbrandsen Yeah, we shouldn't dive into Bonfire too enthousiastically. Bjorn and me haven't even had time yet to peacefully explore the instance and settings and think about how we'd want to configure it. Also, what sensible limits for e.g. video files would be hasn't been thought about yet. We also don't have a preliminary governance yet - or policies etc. So - we'll get back to you when we have some minimal ideas about this 🙂
But of course you can upload to video.edu.nl - that's also on the fediverse 🤩
(Well - not exactly also, since this ConnectingScience BonFire instance isn't federating with the fediverse -- yet 🙂)
@alexbrandsen I also have a video of the action unfolding but cant upload it due to size limit 😇 @matherion

A little bit of activism during the Open Science Festival today, during the opening plenary. Inspired by the session on activism yesterday at the OS Barcamp, awesome to see action being taken directly! #NOSF2026
